![]() ![]() I've had some luck by exporting the results from DupeGuru to CSV, then using regexes in Sublime Text to massage that data into a bash script that moves and removes the files as I'd like. I'm finding that (a) is easy to correct using DupeGuru, (b) is tricky, and (c) is worrisome. I'm assuming this is unavoidable, as PhoShare is guessing based on filenames and dates, as it cannot get this information from the iPhoto database. (c) Occasionally, an entire event will have the originals from a different event. Though I can't visually see any difference in the photo, it bothers me to not have the original. I can verify that the image has been changed by looking at the histogram in Lightroom, which clearly is different for the two versions of the photos. I have maybe 30,000 photos where the modified image is slightly different than the original, and I know I have not edited even close to that number. (b) iPhoto re-saves photos for reasons other than actually editing them (resulting in quality loss). (a) As you mentioned, many of the originals are exact copies of the modified image. (By the way, iPhoto is quite unstable with a collection this large.) I found a tool called DupeGuru-PE (which is free if you follow the instructions in the license) that compares the image contents using some algorithm, and unfortunately the situation is worse than I had thought. Bottom lineĪll in all, dupeGuru Picture Edition offers a handy suite of features for helping you detect, delete, and compare duplicate files, and is suitable for all types of users.I'm going through the same thing, trying to switch to Lightroom with a library of 60,000 photos. The tool comprises several tweaking parameters that help you choose between two scan types (contents or EXIF data), adjust the filter’s power (from more result to fewer), match pictures of different dimensions, use regular expressions, remove empty folders when you delete or move items, adjust the font size, as well as write command-line parameters. Last but not least, you can make the utility display only the duplicate images, clear the picture cache, export the results to CSV or HTML file format, use hotkeys, as well as customize the columns that show you extra info about each file (e.g. What’s more, you can send the selected items to the Recycle Bin, move or copy files to a custom location from your computer, delete or rename pictures, remove the selected items from the Results list or add them to the Ignore list, as well as open images with our default program or open their file location. Plus, you can view a side-by-side comparison of two images. If duplicate photos are found in the specified directory, the program opens up the Results panel which offers you additional information about each item, such as filename, file path, size, dimensions, and percentage for the matching criteria. It is quite friendly with system resources, so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered. Fast performance and resultsĭuring our testing dupeGuru Picture Edition was able to process 105 pictures in two minutes. The main panel is clean and lets you add the folders that you want to scan using the built-in browse button or drag-and-drop support. DupeGuru Picture Edition is a lightweight software application built specifically for helping you scan user-defined folders for duplicate images. ![]()
